“Transparency isn’t just about showing data — it’s about making it understandable.”

Why This Update Matters

A lot of residents told me they loved seeing the real‑time 911 map, but many still had questions:

  • What exactly does a “Priority 1” call mean?
  • Where can I drill into a specific incident?
  • Who decides these crime labels, anyway?

Turns out the official terminology is complex — and sometimes outdated. So I reached out to the Detroit Criminal Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) to get authoritative definitions and refresh the platform.
